Playing
How do I play?
A marble swings back and forth in a valley. Fold at the top of each swing and it climbs higher, like pumping a swing. Open again as it rolls down. Collect every gem before the clock or your marbles run out. Play First Swing from the title screen for a two-minute guided lesson.
I have an iPhone Duo. How do I control it?
Open the phone flat, then fold it a little to drop the marble. The hinge is the controller: folding makes the slopes steeper, opening makes them gentler. Hold it like a book or stand it like a laptop; the game follows.
I have a regular iPhone. How do I control it?
Tilt replaces the fold. Tip the top edge of the screen up (away from you) to fold, and level the phone to open. Whatever angle you hold it at rest counts as flat. If it feels off, pause and tap Recenter tilt.
What are Perfects, Lip Stalls and the Catch?
A Perfect is a fold right as the marble turns; Perfects raise your multiplier and bring in more of the music. A Lip Stall is stopping the marble right on the edge, worth triple points. If the marble flies off the edge, time slows: open quickly (or level the phone) to catch it, once per course.
The marble keeps flying off the edge.
When the ring ahead of the marble turns red, it is heading over. Fold more (or tip up more): a steeper slope stops it sooner.
How do I unlock more marbles?
Earn stars. Twelve marbles unlock at star milestones, from 5 stars up to all 90. Choose yours from Marbles on the map.
Where are my stats?
Tap the star count on the title screen. You'll see best score, fastest time and fewest folds for every course.
Your Songs
How do I play my own songs?
On the title screen, tap Your Songs, then Add a song. Pick a song from Apple Music, Files or your Music library. The game finds the beat, then you choose how busy the course is, whether you steer with side tilt, and how it looks. Tap Play, or tap Edit the course to place gems yourself first.
Why can't I play an Apple Music song?
Playing a full Apple Music song needs an active Apple Music subscription on your iPhone, and permission for Valley Run to use Apple Music (Settings, Apps, Valley Run). Without a subscription, add the song from Files or from songs you bought in your Music library.
Some songs in my Music library can't be added.
Songs downloaded from Apple Music are protected, so the game can't hear them directly. Search for the song with Apple Music in Valley Run instead.
The gems don't line up with the beat.
Open the course from Your Songs and tap Edit. You can rebuild the course or move gems by beat. For Apple Music songs, add the song again and tap along steadily on every beat. Bluetooth headphones add a small delay, so the beat is most accurate on the speaker or wired headphones.
How does the course builder work?
The song runs left to right, one line per beat. The middle line is the crease: gems above it sit on the far slope, below on the near slope. Tap an empty spot to add a gem, tap a gem to change its value or move it. Tap the question mark in the builder for a quick guide.
How do I share a course with a friend?
Tap Share on any song in Your Songs. Your friend opens the link on their iPhone with Valley Run installed, then adds their own copy of the song. Only the layout is shared, never the music.
What is Listen mode?
Play music on a speaker, the radio or another device, then tap Listen in Your Songs. Valley Run hears the beat through the microphone and drops gems on it. Music playing through your iPhone's own headphones can't be heard, so use a speaker.
What is side tilt?
Tip your iPhone left and right to keep the marble on the road. It is how Ribbon Road (World 4) plays, and you can turn on SIDE TILT on the map for the other worlds. Tap Recenter tilt in the pause menu if steering drifts.
Game Center and clips
How do leaderboards work?
Sign in to Game Center in the Settings app. Valley Run posts your best score, fastest time and fewest folds per course, plus totals. Tap the trophy on the map to see them.
What is the screen recording permission for?
Valley Run can save a short clip of your best moment, like a Lip Stall or a three-star finish, so you can share it from the results card. Only the game screen is recorded, never the microphone, and the clip stays on your phone unless you share it. If you decline, the game works exactly the same without clips.
Your progress
Is my progress saved?
Yes, on your iPhone, and it is included in your iPhone backups. Deleting the app deletes your progress.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
